In 2008, the company was supported by Acumen, our Sales and Marketing Programme, to develop a strategy to significantly increase their level of business in Northern Ireland. Not alone did this project identify significant opportunities for the company, through the development of a three year business plan, but the level of sales to Northern Ireland increased dramatically during this period.
Our Acumen Programme aims to help SMEs to grow their business on the island of Ireland by targeting new cross-border markets. The programme does this through a number of tailored financial supports for eligible companies.

Big Mountain Productions was founded in 2005 by husband and wife team, Philip McGovern and Jane Kelly, who both have vast experience of the industry working with RTE and the BBC. The company generates and produces IP rich original television and formats for broadcasters worldwide
Initially located in the Regional Development Centre at Dundalk Institute of Technology, the company quickly gained a reputation for high standard, innovative, engaging and widely accessible television programmes and formats in the factual and entertainment genres.
In 2008, the company were supported to develop a strategy to significantly increase their level of business in Northern Ireland. Not only did this project identify significant opportunities for the company, through the development of a three year business plan, but the level of sales to Northern Ireland increased dramatically during this period.
Both the BBC and Channel 4 have undertaken to significantly increase the percentage of their programming budget spend in the regions, including Northern Ireland. This leaves Big Mountain Productions very well placed to take advantage of this opportunity.
Following the consultancy project the company decided that they required a full time sales presence in the market.
They have recently been supported to employ a graduate under the Acumen Sales graduate programme.
The company continues to grow and has relocated their Northern Irish operation to Greenshoots Incubation and Innovation Centre, Newry.
