Business Ambassadors

Business Ambassadors

SMEs are the backbone of our economy. They account for more than 99% of all enterprises on both sides of the border and create local employment and prosperity.

Business Ambassadors

SMEs importance cannot be underestimated and it is vitally important to recognise their contribution to financial stability and growth, particularly in the recent challenging trading conditions. InterTradeIreland has appointed almost 100 Business Ambassadors in 2014 who have successfully embraced innovation, developed new cross-border markets or secured venture capital with InterTradeIreland’s support.

Value to the Economy

Representing every county and constituency across Northern Ireland and Ireland, the companies between them have generated at least £30m in additional business value to the economy so far. Their achievements were celebrated with special events at Parliament Buildings, hosted by Alastair Ross, MLA, Assembly Private Secretary for the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment and in the Mansion House in Dublin hosted by the Minster for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD.

Looking to the future

We are extremely proud of the shining examples of enterprise and innovation that are represented by our group of InterTradeIreland Business Ambassadors.

By highlighting their achievements, we hope to inspire other businesses to seek support from InterTradeIreland and our partner organisations to grow and develop their business.

With cross-border trade on the island valued at €2.8bn, this lucrative market, which is literally on our doorstep, offers tremendous export opportunities and we would encourage more firms to take advantage of the assistance on offer from InterTradeIreland to help them realise this potential.

InterTradeIreland – Supporting SMEs

We continue to play our part in supporting this goal. To date, more than 25,000 companies have benefited from InterTradeIreland’s information and advice and over 6,000 SMEs have taken part in the business support body’s trade and innovation programmes. As a result, in excess of £700 million worth of business value has been generated giving a twelve-fold return in business development value for every £1 invested.

A thank you to our Business Ambassadors

I would like to thank our Ambassadors in helping to achieve this goal and I would also like to congratulate them on their success so far. Our future prosperity depends on our ability to increase, and sustain, a high value-added, internationally competitive, export-led economy.
