The first InterTradeIreland Economic Forum - Global Outlook took place in Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park, Dublin on the 18h June 2009. Report Press Release Ireland’s First All-Island Economic Forum Examines Latest Global Economic Developments and Path to Recovery- 18th June 2009 About The ForumThe broad objective of the event was to provide a consensus view from leading economic experts on the likely extent (depth and duration) of the current global downturn and to consider goverment and private sector responses in terms of stimuluis remedies and transformational opportunities withn an island context. The Forum was addressed to a select group of policy makers from both jurisdictions, economists, prominent economic commentators and business leaders who combined their expertise and knowledge on the extent of the downturn and searched for innovative strategic responses. Speakers HighlightsDr David Dobbin C.B.E InterTradeIreland Chairman Dr David Dobbin CBE has extensive international business experience in the food and drink and packaging sectors and is currently Group Chief Executive of United Dairy Farmers, a leading UK dairy processor cooperative based in Northern Ireland. He is actively involved in promoting economic development and serves on a number of public and private bodies including the Strategic Investment Board of Northern Ireland and Invest Northern Ireland.
TD Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan was appointed as Minister for Finance on 7 May, 2008. He has served as Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform from the 14 June, 2007 to May 2008. Prior to that he had been Minister of State with responsibility for Children at the Department of Health and Children, the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, and the Department of Education and Science. Adam Posen is deputy director of the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington, DC, where he has been a senior fellow since 1997. He has been a visiting scholar at central banks worldwide, including the Federal Reserve Board, the European Central Bank, and the Deutsche Bundesbank.
