Business & Economic Research
InterTradeIreland adds value to business in two ways.
Firstly, InterTradeIreland's research informs our own programme offerings. This influences how InterTradeIreland directly interacts with companies, supporting their capacity to compete and thus create business value for individual firms.
Secondly, the research , through policy co-ordination, improves the business environment in which all firms operate on the island.
InterTradeIreland's vision is "one of a globally competitive all-island economy characterised by the optimal utilisation of the island's resources...".
All island competitiveness rests on six pillars identified as part of the British Irish Intergovernmental Conference Comprehensive Study on the all Island Economy. Specific research projects will identify where deliverable mutual benefit exists from economic co-operation within these six areas:
- Science Technology and Innovation
- Infrastructure
- Enterprise and Business Development
- Trade and Investment
- Labour Market and Skills
- Regulation
During 2006 InterTradeIreland was involved in the production of the following reports:
- Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Ireland 2005
- Spatial Strategies on the Island of Ireland: A Collaborative Framework for Action
- Business Networks on the Island of Ireland
- A Comprehensive Study on the Island Economy
The seven studies from the All Island Business Model (AIBM) research programme are now available here [link below]. For the first time they compare a number of aspects of trade and competitive behaviour of businesses on either side of the border and provide valuable new insights into aspects of the economic geography of the all-island economy.
