ARDEE FIRM WINS €100,000 AS BEST EMERGING INTERNATIONAL COMPANY

Mcor Technologies from Ardee won €100,000 and the best Emerging International Company title at last night’s finals of the InterTradeIreland All Island Seedcorn Business Competition 08, held in Belfast.
The company, run by Conor, Fintan and Deirdre MacCormack, develops and manufactures 3D printers – their Mcor Matrix yields physical 3D objects from digital data and they are the only 3D printer manufacturer of this technology in Europe....

KPB Scientific of Thurles, Co Tipperary, have won €20,000 and a shot at a total prize fund of €280,000 after clinching a Munster regional title in the Seedcorn Business Competition 08.
The company, who won €20,000 when they took the Emerging International Company title, work in the biomaterials sector and plan to licence their unique proprietary solutions for the manufacture and use of calcium phosphates to the medical device industry....

Despite the weaker economic climate, business confidence for the future of an all-island economy remains resilient, with four out of every five respondents optimistic about their company’s performance over the next three years.
The first Annual Report of the Business Monitor published today by BT and InterTradeIreland, shows that whilst 78 percent of business agreed or strongly agreed that the credit crunch would impact on the economy in the coming 12 months, the majority of these felt the impact would be moderate....
