CPD Event - Taking ICT Technologies from Research to Market

Details : This course is created by NovaUCD and Auril and is supported by InterTradeIreland.

Universities are a source of ICT technologies, which have value in the marketplace. How can you ensure that these technologies reach the marketplace? What are the critical aspects involved in transferring these technologies from research to the market? This 2-day course will address aspects of the technology transfer process to ensure that you get the best ICT deal.

The course will cover aspects IP issues as

Patenting Software - the current state of play

Opensource Code

Ownership, Inventorship, Exploitation Rights

Software Copyright.

The course will also look at early stage technology ventures and use case studies to demonstrate different routes to market. Participants will also hear from venture capitalists and large corporations about their motivations and expectations in dealing with early stage technology promoters.

Course Objectives
This course is intended for all those involved in negotiating or advising on ICT deals, including those from industry, universities, investors, promoters and agencies.

It is an opportunity for participants to understand the process involved in taking ICT research to the marketplace and the hurdles to be overcome in successfully completing such technology transfer.
