Plastics Sector Synergy Workshop

Date : Wednesday 29.10.08

Details : A Synergy Workshop is to be held in Mullingar on the 29th October 2008. This follows a highly successful All-Island Polymer and Plastics Network workshop in May 2008 in Co Armagh, where fifty-two delegates from thirty-eight companies in the Plastic sector across Ireland engaged. Significantly the workshop identified over £3.5million in potential cost savings. The cross-border event, the first of its kind, saw the All-Island Polymer and Plastics Network and NISP identifying profitable links between companies which would optimise the use of previously unused or discarded resources such as materials, transportation, energy, water, office space and expertise etc.

This workshop will highlight a number of areas including the latest developments in recycling, clean technologies, design for materials minimisation, best practice in environmental management systems and resource management. This is a tremendous opportunity for the plastics industry and this event in Mullingar on the 29th October will deliver benefits to the bottom line, save money on disposal costs and create new business opportunities. The synergy workshop will seek to match companies with an excess of any resource with other businesses that can utilise that resource. Remember your waste is another company’s resource!
