Grand Canal Hotel, Dublin

InterTradeIreland have developed a network of some of the island’s most successful entrepreneurs with the objective of using their skills and expertise to assist growth companies.  These entrepreneurs have agreed to dedicate some of their time to help businesses like yours.  The support from the entrepreneurs involves hosting masterclasses with small groups of companies including one to one sessions and follow up support.  On this occasion we have organised a masterclass for companies in the leisure and tourism sector which will be hosted by Liam Griffin and Cathal O’Connell

Liam Griffin has been involved in the hospitality industry all his life, serving customers from the time he was 12 years old in a small family hotel in Rosslare Harbour. In 1974 he bought the family business and to remain successful he bought Hotel Kilkenny in 1985 which he developed into a four star conference and wedding venue with leisure facilities. He acquired Ferrycarrig Hotel in 1991 and turned this property around from an old 37 bedroom operation to a 103 bedroom 4 star hotel.. He acquired Monart House, and 100 acres, in 2001. Based on his vision he set about developing a world class facility in Co. Wexford. The world class spa was completed in 2005. A unique departure within Ireland's hospitality sector, Monart was opened to an Irish market not yet truly familiar with the idea of a destination spa.

Cathal O’Connell started Paddywagon Tours in Dublin on St. Patrick’s Day 1998.  He has won every accolade on offer in the lucrative backpacker market.  Paddywagon has grown to become the second biggest tour operator in Europe and one of the few globally not owned by a multi-national conglomerate.  A Dubliner with Cork/Limerick routes his previous adventures have found him leading safaris in Africa.  He is responsible for driving the company forward, orchestrating the company’s award-winning business strategies and developing new routes, acquiring new hostels etc.

The first part of the day will involve group discussions and include a brief overview by each participant company.  Issues covered in this session will be decided by the companies attending.  The afternoon sessions will focus on one to one sessions with the hosts.  Each individual company will avail of a one to one session with one of the host entrepreneurs.  The session will conclude in the afternoon with each participant company giving a brief overview of follow up actions agreed with the hosts.

Places on the masterclass are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.  If you feel the event would benefit your business please email gary.stokes@intertradeireland.com
